Well, the 2015 Crappie Masters One Day Qualifier on Beaver Lake was good to us. Beaver is a huge clear, deep, vast lake that offers different styles of fishing. The upper part of the lake has clear deep water and the lower end of the lake splits into two major arms the Warrior River and then the White River arm.

Dad and I had never been to Beaver Lake, AR. My research showed that it was going to take us back to our fishing styles from up north, when we competed in the Crappie USA Region 3 days. Region 3 covered states like OH, IN, IL, NY and some of these places had deep CLEAR water.

While we were there the FLW Tour had a tournament the same. The first creek I go in there is a FLW Pro in the back burning the bank. As we are putting out our rods a media boat rolls in and its outdoor writer Brad Wiegmann. He says, Hello Jarad. I was thinking, who in the world knows me in Rogers, AR. LOL I knew it wasn't anyone in the crappie tournament and it turned out to be Brad.

As we started pre-fishing we get several bites but no connection and then BOOM! Dad's rod tip goes into the water and look what it was. WALLEYE

We kept looking and finally found some big fish. We felt like we could win the tournament if the wind they were talking about did not jake up our area. Well, tournament day wind was blowing 20-25 MPH gusting up to 30 MPH. We end up getting 2nd Place Big Fish of the event and finished in 11th Place.

We were trolling 20-21 feet deep in 25-30ft. of water. Our bait weapon was a Pretty Pink Roper Outdoors Jig Head paired with our Roper Outdoors Maybug Tube Jig and a Black/Chart Tube Jig tipped with a small minnow.
