Chickamauga Slam Crappie Tournament Results

This past weekend Roper Outdoors & Dayton, TN held it’s first Chickamauga Slam Crappie Tournament. 44 anglers from around the region and states came to fish is this amazing event. The weights were down due to how cold the weather had been but the anglers spirits were high. Somebody was going to walk away as the 2014 Chickamauga Slam Crappie Tournament Champions.

Taking First Place was the team of Barry Shrader from Hixson, TN and Jeff Hackney from Hixson, TN weighing 14 crappie for a total of 16.16lbs. On day one of the two day event, the team brought in a 9.06lbs bag of fish with a 2.06lbs. crappie to give them BigFish for day one. Because they brought in the biggest fish for day one they received $500. On the final day they brought in 7 crappie weighing 7.10lbs. which gave them the lead and because they were the highest placing team using an Ego Reach Net (which they bought at the rules meeting the day before the tournament) they received the Ego Net Bonus of $125. Their total earnings were – $2,225.

Coming in at Second Place was the team of Anthony Tipton from Jonesborough, TN and Gary Musselman from Kingsport, TN. The team on day one had a 7 fish limit weighing 7.61lbs but unlike most teams their day two 7 fish limit was higher. Coming in at 8.19lbs. which gave the the huge advantage. The teams final weight was 15.80lbs. This was Gary’s first big crappie tournament. Because this was the first time fishing a crappie tournament Russ Bailey who was the MC of the event, said he was going to be giving the highest placing team that never fished a crappie tournament before one of his Signature Dock Shooting Kits made by Southern Pro Tackle.

Third Place goes to the team of Juston Ross and Matthew Ritchey from Pikeville, TN. This team was in third place after day one and held their spot. They brought in 7 crappie weighing 7.88lbs and on the final day bright in 7 crappie weighing 7.60lbs whic gave the a total weight of 15.48lbs.

Fourth Place goes to the team of David East and Brain Howard. They were in third place after day one with their fishing weighing 8.13lbs but fell on the final day with their 7 crappie weighing only 6.65lbs. Their total weight for two days was 14.78lbs.

The Second Day Big Fish award of $500 went to the team of Wayne Darnell from Kingsport, TN and Ricky Keener from Kingsport, TN weighing 1.83lbs. They said after day one they were going to change up and go shallower and pull planer boards. Well, it worked!
